Last night, my daughter, a decorated LCPD Lieutenant and the light of my life, was shot in the line of duty. To assist in her recovery, I have tendered my resignation to Mayor Preston, and will be returning home.

I'd like to thank Mayor Preston, who has given me the most memorable moments of my life and restored my faith in public service, and a thank you to all of you who have supported me along the way, especially my fund family, who have been nothing but exemplary.

It has been the greatest honor of my life to serve you all.
