Frederick Coleman had my respect up until this moment.
There is no point that critics to government legislature or officials, regardless of their status, should be silenced or prevented from voicing their opinions in a way that is meaningful towards their elected officials, regardless of where that criticism takes place. Whether it be a protest, a social media conversation, or written literature.
To those who wish to say to me that this is an over reaction? It is not. If you voted for a member of Congress and suddenly received word that they are no longer accepting any opinions of yours when drafting legislature, you would feel the exact same as I do now.
The "Republican" government that currently rules Los Santos does not endure the namesake of its party. A government "For the people," appears to be explicitly against it. Through a comment thread, I have offered to work directly with Deputy Mayor Coleman over the Digital Inclusion & Equity Act of 2024. He stated that I had that opportunity previously, however? He's not once reached out to me. We have no emails together, we have no DMs together. We have never spoke aside from his brief address to my critiques in a previous comment thread before I posted my article through The Political Sandbox.
In addition to pursuing an attempt to undermine this democracy, Coleman has also taken my character into question. While I understand that my use of sources in my recent article was limited, it was done so from the openly available resources presented to me at the time.
As it stands? The current government does not seem open to critiques and criticisms. They don't seem open to new opinions. I was insulted, mocked, and berated for offering my critiques which even the uneducated can see are based on concerns over the well-being of ALL citizens of Los Santos. Not just those that a single act seeks blindly to support.
Once again, I am not against the DIEA. I am part of the population that it intends to serve. However, I like to weigh both the pros and cons of a piece of legislature.
I can only assume now that I will receive hate and be scolded for my approach to this situation. I fear that any letters or requests I send to government officials pertaining to issues moving forwards may be denied or simply tossed asides. This is not how governments should function. It's amazing that when you call out our elected officials on their bluff & criticize them over their policies they'd sooner block you than handle the problem at hand. Please keep in mind, I'm not trying to say that the Bill is the "evil of all evils." I actually find the subject of the bill quite endearing since I fall into the 1% of Eligible Applicants. However, it's important that everyone understands the costs and that we hold our elected officials accountable when they've made a mistake, and it's our responsibility to ask them to rectify that mistake. And it's up! - I'm doing a lot better than I've been doing. Expect me to write an article on the flaws in this provision for The Political Sandbox in the coming days. Expect me to write an article on the flaws in this provision for The Political Sandbox in the coming days. I've left a comment which summarizes my opinion on this measure as well.I have written a draft bill that is going through some revisions at the moment, Mayor Preston will be sponsoring it - it's called the Digital Inclusion & Equity Act of 2024.
The bill aims to address the digital divide caused by historic systemic disparities, the idea at it's core is to subsidize laptops and mobile phones for low-income households, as well as broadband services through a Digital Equity Fund.
Granting this access to families that need it as a basic human right allows people the ability to access employment opportunities, study, access city services, and more. It also includes provisions for granting mobile phones to homeless people registered with authorized shelters.
The bill stands to improve educational success, contribute to the City's social and economic development, and promotes social equity. A no-brainer! - Someone has to study the phenomenon that was that cold snap. We got absolutely no warning, it stayed slush since it was only around 31.5-32F, and immediately melted. Yet somehow we had about a half inch yesterday, AND snow all day????

- Dr. Samantha Richards - Inefficiencies of Municipal Partisan Politics (Party Politics)Partisan politics is a rampant design of democratic bureaucracies. They exist on federal levels in nearly every country worldwide—from the United Kingdom to Brazil, South Korea to Iceland, Canada to Russia, and even in places like North Korea—which has adopted a unilateral, partisan approach (Boulding and Brown 2015; Copus 2004; Gnarr, 2014; Yoon and Shin 2017). In the United States...0 Comments 0 Shares
