DUTIES:
The Student Nurse role is an entry level point in the Nursing Department. For Student Nurses to practice, they must be under the supervision of Registered Nurses, Nurse Practitioners or Physicians at all. Because they are not legally responsible for the medical care of the patients, they must practice under those who are. Duties include but aren't limited to:
Alerting nurses to emergencies;
Monitoring patient needs and reporting any issues to other healthcare personnel;
Helping patients with their daily needs, such as eating, bathing, dressing, and toileting;
Attend several classes ranging from administrative courses, to clinical teaching units in emergency nursing and mental health, to name a few.
Under certain circumstances, for example in an emergency setting, and under specific authorization of a Registered Nurse or above.
