To the city of Los Santos, artists, producers, friends, and twats,
It is with a mix of emotions and a heavy heart that I announce my decision to step down from my role at Magnolia Records. My official last day will be the 13th December.
Over the past eight years, Magnolia became a big part of my life. We've made some amazing music, hosted some unforgettable events, and I will forever hold dear memories of all of the friends I made along the way.
From its inception, Magnolia Records has been rooted in a commitment to nurturing talent and providing musicians with a fair platform to showcase their work. As I look back on my journey, I am incredibly proud of what was achieved over the years.
To date, we have more than 438 tracks (I've not got them all!) recorded under the label over the years, from 19 different artists.
I've met friends for life at Magnolia, people who will remain in my heart forever and I will continue to see outside of work. I know it's cliché but we really were a family. (Even if we did have children that frustrated the shit out of me at times!)
Raheme Bell has been a rock in my life, always supported me, encouraged me and was the main inspiration to me being at Magnolia all of these years. The hardest part about stepping away from Magnolia Records will be that I can't just piss him off while he's in the studio recording tracks.
However, there comes a time in everyone's life when they need to turn the page and venture into new chapters. I want to assure you all that while my stepping down heralds changes at Magnolia Records it does not mean an end. There are plans for the future, but how exactly Magnolia fits in remains to be seen. Subsidiaries of the company will still remain in place. And I'll probably get involved with the odd event anyway!
The city of Los Santos has been kinder than words can express over these past 8 years (most of the time anyway!) Thank you from every corner of my heart. As I step back from this position which held such a significant place in my life I do so knowing fully well that both Magnolia Records & myself are surrounded by individuals who will continue championing creativity & diversity within Los Santos’ thriving music scene.
My doors are always open for anyone in the music industry, whether it's just a nudge in the right direction with information, or honest feedback on a track. I'm always more than happy to help if I can.
With all my love and gratitude,
Melissa Cole
