  • 𝐍𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝐢𝐬 𝐁𝐥𝐚𝐝𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐡

This month is dedicated to increasing awareness and advocating for education on maintaining a healthy bladder, which is especially crucial for women. It's a chance to debunk myths, share information, and encourage women to prioritize their urinary wellbeing.

    𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐨𝐧 𝐁𝐥𝐚𝐝𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬

    • 𝐔𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭 𝐢𝐧𝐟𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 (𝐔𝐓𝐈𝐬):
Because women have a shorter urethra, allowing bacteria to travel to the bladder more quickly, they are more susceptible to UTIs than men.

    • 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞:
This condition is often linked to pregnancy and childbirth, and causes involuntary urine leakage during activities that stress the bladder, such as laughing, sneezing, or exercising.

    • 𝐎𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐛𝐥𝐚𝐝𝐝𝐞𝐫 (𝐎𝐀𝐁):
Women are more prone to OAB, which is characterized by frequent, urgent urination and sometimes even urinary incontinence.

    • 𝐏𝐞𝐥𝐯𝐢𝐜 𝐨𝐫𝐠𝐚𝐧 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐥𝐚𝐩𝐬𝐞:
This is a condition that commonly affects women after childbirth or during menopause.

    𝐓𝐢𝐩𝐬 𝐓𝐨 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐁𝐥𝐚𝐝𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡

1, Try to maintain your stress levels
2, Avoid bladder irritants such as coffee, tea, soda, sparkling water, etc...
    3, Stay hydrated
    4, Practice pelvic floor exercises
    5, Schedule your preventive exams

Just like every year, this year in October, we spread awareness about breast cancer. Breast cancer accounts for about 30% of all new cancer cases in women each year in the United States. In 2023, an estimated 297,790 women in the United States will be diagnosed with invasive breast cancer, and 55,720 women will be diagnosed with non-invasive breast cancer cases and 609,820 cancer deaths are projected to occur in the United States.

    𝐒𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐒𝐲𝐦𝐩𝐭𝐨𝐦𝐬

    • New lump in the breast or underarm (armpit)
    • Thickening or swelling of part of the breast
    • Irritation or dimpling of breast skin
    • Redness or flaky skin in the nipple area or the breast
    • Pulling in of the nipple or pain in the nipple area
    • Nipple discharge other than breast milk, including blood
    • Any change in the size or the shape of the breast
    • Pain in any area of the breast

It is not only women that can be diagnosed with breast cancer! An estimated 2,800 men in the United States will be diagnosed with invasive breast cancer in 2023.
Our hometown heroes within the Fire Department San Fire, and other emergency services are also at a higher risk for developing breast cancer!
Over at #CattaneoOBGYN we offer a Well-Woman Exam for free of charge, and within that, you also get a free mammogram to scan both of your breast tissues!

  • 𝐒𝐞𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝐢𝐬 𝐌𝐞𝐧𝐨𝐩𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐡

While during September we spread awareness about multiple things such as; Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month, Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) Awareness Month and is also a Sexual Health Month, in this post, this year, we will focus on Menopause.

    𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐌𝐞𝐧𝐨𝐩𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐞

Menopause is a point in time 12 months after a woman's last period. The years leading up to that point, when women may have changes in their monthly cycles, hot flashes, or other symptoms, are called the menopausal transition or perimenopause.

    𝐖𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐃𝐨𝐞𝐬 𝐌𝐞𝐧𝐨𝐩𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐇𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐧

In most women, menopause occurs between the ages of 45 - 55.

    𝐅𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐒𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐬

    • Your periods happen very close together.
    • You have heavy bleeding.
    • You have spotting.
    • Your periods last more than a week.
    • Your periods resume after no bleeding for more than a year.
    • Hot flashes.
    • Mood changes.
    • and more...

    𝐈𝐬 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐀𝐧𝐲 𝐓𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭

    • Hormone Therapy
    • Vaginal Estrogen
    • Low-dose Antidepressants
    • and more....

Although treatment is available to everyone, you should check in with your obstetrician-gynecologist and ask all kinds of questions, before you would like to choose to treat your symptoms, or not.

Some women don't have any trouble with menopausal symptoms and may even feel relieved when they no longer need to worry about painful periods or getting pregnant. For other women, the menopausal transition can bring hot flashes, trouble sleeping, pain during intercourse, moodiness and irritability, depression, or a combination of these symptoms.

Our line gets a lot of messages in regards of patients trying to book an appointment.
While this is completely alright within our practice, we still prefer our patients to book through our website where they can find the appointment scheduling form ( https://gtaw.link/AppointmentScheduling ), or through their patient appointment booking (( our discord )).

If you, however, still are looking to book an appointment through texting, there are some information we need to collect such as your full name, chief complaint, and whether or not you have been a patient at our practice #CattaneoOBGYN.
