Sheriff Deputies were led on an armed pursuit of a blacked-out four door sedan at around the wee hours of the morning of 0300AM today within the area of Davis before its termination point in Little Seoul.
Multiple shots were fired at pursuing Deputies as the suspect in all blacked-out clothing became desperate to evade and escape. Our brothers in the Special Enforcement Bureau were notified and quickly responded to the pursuit.
The pursuit lasted an arduous 15 Minutes of constant bullet rounds being discharged by the gunman from his vehicle before our combined force from patrol units to SEB personnel eventually overwhelmed him at K-Town.
Thankfully the gunman was quickly neutralized and was no longer a threat to Deputies and the public. It is a miracle no civilians were hurt during the incident.
However, multiple Deputies sustained injuries of gunshot wounds from the bullets the gunman discharged as he was evading in his vehicle. Fortunately, there were no Deputy fatalities due to the rapid response from SEB's Tactical medics who quickly rendered medical aid.
As gun crime increases, we urge members of the public to come forward with information regarding the illegal sale and possession of firearms. The identities of such whistle-blowers will be kept strictly confidential, and anonymity is guaranteed.
