This is the Vapid TARV (commonly referred to as an "ARV"), the Department's SWAT team (D Platoon) currently operates three. "ARVs" are typically referred to by law enforcement agencies as being "armored rescue vehicles" with their primary use being to transport tactical officers to and from hostile situations and to assist with the recovery and protection of civilians in harm's way during terrorist threats, hostage incidents, or encounters with large gatherings of aggressors. The ARV is designed to provide protection from a variety of small arms, explosives and IED threats. April 13th, 2024 - Members of LSPD SWAT, D platoon, conduct warrant service on a subject. SWAT surrounded, contained the vehicle the high risk suspect was inside and proceeded to peacefully call out and detain all occupants, despite firearms being present in the vehicle with Members of LSFD TEMS (Tactical Emergency Medical Services) rendering aid to one of the occupants for a minor self-committed injury. #LifesavingTactcs #Dteam #TEMS #LSPD #L:SFD #SavingLivesSaturday #Metro #114

January 13th, 2024. LSPD Special Weapons and Tactics (D-Team) with support from Metro K-9 Platoon responded to an officer needs help call in which a subject had opened fire on officers. The suspect was pursued to the Diamond Casino and Resort where they barricaded in a suite. Thanks to the swift tracking skills of K-9 and the timely assistance of Resort staff the subject was located and a barricaded subject scene developed. Unfortunately, despite the efforts of negotiators and other tactical personnel the subject failed to surrender, eventually fleeing the suite and opening fire on officers before being taken down. May 22, 2023 LSPD SWAT and K9 responded to Mission Row Division at the conclusion of a vehicle pursuit of an armed suspect. When the suspect refused to comply with the Officers demands, SWAT Officers responded to assist with the suspect barricaded within a property. Following negotiations, the suspect refused to comply and barricaded the entrance of their property. The barricade at the entrance was opened forcefully, SWAT Officers later utilized tactical technology to locate the suspect within the structure, where later the suspect shot the recon robot multiple times, resulting in D-Team using gas munitions to force the suspect exit. A plan to enter the property was made, SWAT Officers breached the property and maintained a foothold inside and continued to negotiate with the suspect, the suspect later surrendered his firearm and complied with the demands of the officers on scene, he was was taken into custody by SWAT Officers ending the incident without further incident. Outstanding work by our CNT Officer who rigosously negotiated with the suspect in this incident despite their background, or the crime that they have committed , D Team prides itself in upholding a reputation as a life saving organization. April 3, 2023 LSPD SWAT responded to Mission Row Division at the conclusion of a vehicle pursuit of a suspect who was confirmed to be in possession of a firearm during a traffic stop. The suspect fled from his vehicle and barricaded inside a property which prompted a SWAT response. The suspect later relocated onto a rooftop and stood over the ledge in a suicidal manner. Following rigorous negotiations, the suspect surrendered to SWAT Officers and was assisted down the rooftop and taken into custody without further incident. Following a search warrant service on the target property with the assistance of LSPD K-9, five illegal firearms, ammunition and an unknown amount of illegal substance was recovered. Special thanks to Air Support Division's Special Flights Section for their presence during this deployment. This incident was resolved utilizing tactical prowess, phenomenal decision making, strong tactical leadership, teamwork, and an outstanding display of judgement. In the past weeks, D Team has responded to numerous potentially volatile situations and incidents ranging from armed barricaded suspects, apprehension of armed fugitives, and hostage rescue. Each incident was resolved utilizing tactical prowess, phenomenal decision making, strong tactical leadership, teamwork, and an outstanding display of judgement. Photographed, February 24, 2023 LSPD SWAT and K9 responded to Mission Row Division to assist with a suspect apprehension in relation to an ADW suspect that assaulted an officer with a firearm. K9 Officers contained the target building and located the suspect hiding inside a garage. A callout for SWAT was made later. After D Team arrived on scene and began scouting the target building with specialized monitoring tools, the suspect opened fire on officers. Following negotiations, the suspect exited the property and failed to comply with officers, which resulted in less-than-lethal force being used. The suspect was taken into custody without further incident and the firearm was recovered.
