I didn't attend the Los Santos Lifestyle Awards last Sunday with high hopes of winning, and I never imagined that I would take home three awards in one evening. I took home the Best Model, Best Influencer, and Best Magazine awards that evening. I have worked in the fashion industry since moving back to Los Santos four years ago, so it meant more to me than words can say to be honored in the company of people I look up to. The Best Magazine award is the one that I would say meant the most to me. After a year of working on Diversify, I have had moments of doubt and uncertainty when I've questioned whether the consistent striving was worth it and wondered how I could possibly keep pushing myself until burnout.
I am motivated to work even harder on my project and in my career, though, after receiving this award. Rather than for myself, but for other people of color who haven't been given a semblance of a chance to step foot into the entertainment industry. I've experienced being forced into a role where others perceive your professional trajectory in a particular way because of circumstances beyond your control. For that reason alone, I hope that opportunities such as these become more available for my community in the future; opportunities where my community is honored for their talents.
To sum up my experience, I would like to thank
Carl Medina for putting the event together and personally congratulate all of the other nominees and winners. I wish everyone who reads this continued blessings in life and the fulfillment of their dreams. 🤍
