Yesterday, March 7th, 2024, the State Parks SAR Marine Unit & the SASP Air Wing, alongside the Sheriffs Department, Lifeguards & even volunteers from the San Andreas Aviation Administration responded to a MAYDAY call over the Vessel Traffic Service radio frequency about a boat stranded at sea, sinking & on fire.

SASP Marine responded to the initial MAYDAY call & quickly scrambled to create a search party in unison with the other agencies. After roughly 30 minutes of searching the seas with both Maritime & Air assets scouring the waters, the stricken vessel was located & the victims rescued without any life threatening injuries.

Thank you to our fellow SAR Operators & volunteers from every agency that assisted in the rescue!
