On May 2nd, 2024 following months of surveillance on a drug trafficking organization operating in the Hawick area, our detectives from the Operation Safe Streets Bureau executed a series of search warrants on several properties of the leadership figures of the organization, among which was Cafe Tirana, a popular tourist destination. The operation was a massive success, substantial quantities of narcotics were seized, including several ounces of fentanyl, marijuana, heroin, and various pills. Additionally, a marijuana grow house was discovered along with a significant cache of firearms and nearly $300,000 in illicit funds. The raids also uncovered illegal items such as card skimmers, car theft tools, and device scanners, further implicating the organization in various criminal activities. Last night's raid has effectively disrupted the operations of this criminal organization and as a result, we have also significantly disrupted the group's ability to continue their illegal operations. This morning at approximately 0300 hours, Operation Safe Streets conducted a series of arrests in collaboration with the Senora Sheriff's Station at a property on East Joshua Road, bringing several local repeat offenders into custody. These individuals were wanted for violent felony assault and battery, against a group of our very own patrol deputies. Without provocation, they cowardly, and brazenly attacked attacked our deputies in broad daylight as they tried to carry out their duties, upholding the law and keeping the community of Sandy Shores safe. 🚔🔒 ARREST MADE 🚨👮‍♂️ In the early morning hours of March 28th 2024, a gathering of males affiliated with the Tiny Raskal's Gang well known to the department gathered at the intersection of Magellan Avenue and Vitus Street in Vespucci Beach. Suddenly, amid the group, multiple individuals brandished firearms, igniting a chaotic exchange of gunfire between them and law enforcement officials, including members of the LSPD and LSSD. In the wake of the altercation, law enforcement managed to apprehend one suspect. He was identified as Freddie Sayavong who now faces several charges including eight counts of capital murder, discharging a firearm in a public, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Despite this arrest, several others implicated in the incident remain at large.
