January 13th, 2024. LSPD Special Weapons and Tactics (D-Team) with support from Metro K-9 Platoon responded to an officer needs help call in which a subject had opened fire on officers. The suspect was pursued to the Diamond Casino and Resort where they barricaded in a suite. Thanks to the swift tracking skills of K-9 and the timely assistance of Resort staff the subject was located and a barricaded subject scene developed. Unfortunately, despite the efforts of negotiators and other tactical personnel the subject failed to surrender, eventually fleeing the suite and opening fire on officers before being taken down.
