Not to be overshadowed by an eclipse, but on April 9th, 2024 at 1950 hours, K9-16 Ortega and K9-23 Maldonado along with K9-30 Wojcik responded to a call for service in the Mirror Park district in reference to an attempted armed robbery.

Upon their arrival, K9-16 Ortega and K9-23 Maldonado were advised by the reporting parties that the offender was observed carrying a rifle and that he fled on foot after abandoning his vehicle on East Mirror Drive. K9-30 Wojcik, K9-16 Ortega and K9-23 Maldonado formulated a search plan to locate the offender. K9-16 Ortega informed on-scene personnel that he was familiar with the suspected offender and directed units to begin a canine track from a location known to be used by the offender.

K9-30 Wojcik, K9-16 Ortega and K9-23 Maldonado successfully tracked the offender up the Tataviam Mountains through a variety of rough terrain, altitudes and unknown obstacles with the assistance of K9-23 Maldonado's canine partner, K9 Arlo.

Following the capture of the offender, K9-30 Wojcik, K9-16 Ortega and K9-23 Maldonado continued to demonstrate amazing work by properly concluding their investigation into the call for service.

Deputy Sheriff Noah Sung from our Special Assignment Team was shot in the line of duty assisting a Los Santos Police Department canine handler in the arrest of three armed suspects yesterday. He was visited by Area Commander Ximena Navarro, from Administrative Services Division.

Earlier today at 08:00 24 March 2024, the Deputy Sheriffs of Davis Station were led on a dangerous chase by a pickup truck carrying two suspects around South Los Santos that lasted for around 30 minutes. The reckless driver eventually struck a pedestrian biking on the road at Charleston Projects before dropping off his accomplice at Strawberry Avenue. The accomplice, surrounded by Deputies decided to shoot at them with a Glock before attempting to steal a LSSD Buffalo housing a Canine unit. The accomplice was successfully and swiftly dispatched by the Deputies on scene.

Residents of the apartments may have heard sirens and disruptive sounds during the arrest, we are terribly sorry...

The Canine was found with his chew toy in his mouth mean-mugging our suspect. He was not harmed and given a pup cup later for his bravery.

January 13th, 2024. LSPD Special Weapons and Tactics (D-Team) with support from Metro K-9 Platoon responded to an officer needs help call in which a subject had opened fire on officers. The suspect was pursued to the Diamond Casino and Resort where they barricaded in a suite. Thanks to the swift tracking skills of K-9 and the timely assistance of Resort staff the subject was located and a barricaded subject scene developed. Unfortunately, despite the efforts of negotiators and other tactical personnel the subject failed to surrender, eventually fleeing the suite and opening fire on officers before being taken down. No officers were injured and the suspect was pronounced deceased by Tactical Emergency Medical Personnel from the Fire Department on scene.

#LSSD SEB SWAT canine operation in support of LSPD Mission Row for a hostage suspect with canine "Liberty" has concluded. Suspect in custody. Vinewood Boulevard reopened. Neighborhood safe.

While investigating suspicious activity, #LSSD Deputies from Senora Station's Canine Team found and seized approximately 500 grams of assorted narcotics, 6 firearms, and over $70,000 in cash. Two individuals were booked at the Senora Sheriff's Station and currently remain in custody.

With the slow cooling of Southern San Andreas after a summer of heat advisories, we're reminding the public that cooler temps outside don't equal cooler temps inside. The LSPD has received many calls this summer of unattended pets inside of vehicles. NEVER leave pets or children unattended inside of parked cars.
